Prince George Crime Stoppers net a strong 2018

Close to 600 tips were received last year in Prince George

Mounties have a helping hand when it comes to catching criminals and new numbers for Crime Stoppers in Prince George show just that. 

Last year in the city, there were: 

  • 586 tips received
  • 11 arrests made
  • 10 awards approved
  • $1,680 of awards approved 
  • $4,800 worth of property and drugs seized

"The board of directors of Prince George Crime Stoppers Association would like to thank the citizens of Prince George and surrounding areas for continuing to provide vital information that has led to arrests and seizures in 2018," a release on the organization's website says. "The board would also like to thank the hardworking and dedicated members of the RCMP in Prince George and neighbouring communities for continuing to support this worthwhile program." 

Since the inception of Prince George Crime Stoppers in 1985, there have been: 
  • 13,268 tips received
  • 1,547 arrests made
  • 588 awards approved
  • $171,985 in approved awards
  • $26,801,200 worth of seized property and drugs

The Prince George chapter is one of 86 throughout Canada. Crime Stoppers is a not-for-profit society that is run by citizens independently of the police. 

All information received is anonymous and given to police with a goal to further investigations and also lead to arrests, seizures and recovered property.
