This story almost seems like a scene out of a movie but it wasn't a good ending for two Prince George men.

On Dec. 12 at around 2:06 p.m., McBride RCMP tried to stop a White Ford F450 truck which had Alberta license plates BBY0780. The truck was also carrying a jet boat.

The truck sped off at high speeds and wouldn't stop for police. With the dangerous driving the truck was exhibiting, McBride RCMP did not pursue the vehicle and contacted RCMP detachments along Highway 16.

Valemount RCMP was then unsuccessful to help near the junction of Highway 16 and Highway 5.

Another vehicle stop was attempted near Valemount, but once again, the truck didn't stop and kept speeding south on Highway 5 toward Clearwater.

Patrolling officers located the boat and trailer dumped in the middle of Highway 5, just south of Valemount, at roughly 2:56 p.m.

It was also confirmed the truck was stolen from Calgary while the boat was stolen from Grande Prairie.

Central interior traffic services, RCMP air services, Kamloops and Prince George K-9 units, as well as Clearwater RCMP, were on Highway 5 when they saw the suspect truck on the highway past Blue River and toward Clearwater.

Clearwater Mounties used a spike belt and disabled the truck as it entered their jurisdiction. But that wouldn't stop the truck.

The driver continued to drive on bare rims but eventually came to a stop on Highway 5 at Horiup Road North in the Vavenby area.

The two male suspects took off on foot and police set a perimeter with several K-9 units to track the suspects. Highway 5 was closed temporarily but reopened.

At 6 p.m., a 29-year-old Prince George man was arrested. Three K-9 units and Clearwater RCMP continued to search for the other suspect until it was dark.

On Dec. 13, a resident contacted police to report a suspicious person on their property and RCMP restarted their search.

A 32-year-old Prince George man was found hiding in a tree by Clearwater RCMP, with help from a Kamloops K-9 unit.

The man was eventually taken into custody without incident.

The investigation is ongoing and spans multiple jurisdictions; both suspects are facing a multitude of charges including possession of stolen property and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says in a press release.

Clearwater RCMP is asking anyone with information or possible dash cam footage of the truck involved to contact McBride RCMP at 250-569-2255 or Clearwater RCMP at 250-674-2237.
