North District Mounties have confirmed there is no indication the Enbridge pipeline explosion on Oct. 9 was criminal in nature.

In a press release, Prince George RCMP Operations Officer, Inspector Shaun Wright says investigators and Forensic Identification Services were called in alongside the North District Major Crime Unit.

"Our top priority is to ensure public and officer safety," the press release reads. "Our investigators along with Forensic Identification Services have maintained the security of the scene from the beginning and immediately engaged the assistance of our North District Major Crime Unit. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or damages to properties in the vicinity."

Police say after reviewing known information from all stakeholders, there are no indications the explosion was criminal in nature.

The investigation has now been handed over to the Transportation Safety Board, with assistance from the National Energy Board and Enbridge.
