UPDATE: Prince George Courthouse reopens following evacuation order

RCMP say the incident has been resolved.

The evacuation order at the Prince George Provincial courthouse has been lifted.

People are being allowed back inside as the evacuation order was lifted at approximately 2:30 p.m.

An incident was reported to the Prince George RCMP hours earlier at approximately 11:30 a.m. that prompted immediate action.

Officers, emergency vehicles, and a service dog were called to the scene and the courthouse was evacuated.

Prince George RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass would not comment as to what prompted the evacuation order.

"There was a concern for the safety of persons in the building, therefore the building was evacuated," says Douglass in an RCMP press release following the incident, "The situation has been resolved by police and the building will be reopened at 2:30 PM."

George Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue was closed to traffic and pedestrians for the duration of the incident.

More to follow as further details become available.
