Vanderhoof eager to fly

There is no drive to revitalize the downtown, construct a road on the outskirts, or attract 747s loaded with cargo. But the Mayor of Vanderhoof is talking about planes, strengthening local industry and employment.

Homicide charged

On Jan. 30, Fort Nelson RCMP members were called to assist the BC Ambulance Service with a woman in distress. Police attended and located a woman inside a residence at the Fort Nelson First Nation.

Pilot Mountain Road grow op busted

About 1,750 pot plants were seized from a residence on Pilot Mountain Road by RCMP executing a warrant. There was also a large amount of grow operation paraphernalia seized.

The man killed in Saturday night's pedestrian collision has been identified, The Citizen has learned, as Stanley Heavysides, 48. Sandra Cassidy, 68, of Prince George is facing five charges in relation to the incident.

A 16-year-old fiddle champion from Prince George will entertain at the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver. Sydney Wilson said she's excited, but nervous about playing in front of about 35,000 people at the medal ceremony on Feb. 14.
