After their second loss to the Vancouver Giants in consecutive nights, the Prince George Cougars can take heart in the fact they've got six more chances this season to try and beat their WHL nemesis.

Cougar fans gathered in front of the CN Centre Friday afternoon were having no trouble getting into the spirit for the season-opener against the Vancouver Giants.

The Prince George Cougars left Cats fans disappointed as the Giants took the CN Centre home opener 5-3.

A matchup against the Vancouver Giants used to send the Prince George Cougars scurrying like scared cats. They've been the Cougars' nemesis so long, you have to wonder when the shoe's going to be worn on the other foot.

Prince George has a deserved reputation as a mountain biker's heaven. On Sunday, a little piece of that paradise will finally receive protected status when Pidherny recreation site becomes officially part of the city's network of off-road trails.

A few more players would be nice. The Prince George Women's Recreational Hockey League starts its new season on Friday. Six teams are ready to hit the ice, but they do have some open roster spots.
