No need to panic

Spruce Kings hungry for wins on BCHL trail

It wasn't exactly Black September.

But with just one win in eight games last month, the Prince George Spruce Kings have to be thinking better days lie ahead.

Justin Fillion is not concerned his team will pull out of its 1-5-0-2 tailspin, a record that has the Spruce Kings hovering dangerous close to the lowest rung on the BCHL ladder. The 20-year-old Kings defenceman says his team is better than what the standings indicate and will start showing that this weekend, when they open October with three games at the Coliseum.

"It's been a rough month but there have been a lot of good things though," said Fillion. "We've had a lot of one-goal games and two-goal games that we've been in there and they just fell apart at the wrong times. I think things are coming along and it should be a good October for us."

The Kings will have their hands full this weekend taking on the Salmon Arm Silverbacks (6-1-0-0) tonight (7 p.m. start) and Sunday (3 p.m.), sandwiched around a Saturday game (7 p.m.) against the Surrey Eagles (5-4-0-0).
