On March 1 Smithers RCMP responded to a call from a trailer in the Laidlaw Trailer Park where an unresponsive man was suffering from stab wounds. The 30-year-old was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery, but died a short time later.

Former B.C. premier Bill Vander Zalm will be in Prince George next week to drum up support for a province-wide petition against the harmonized sales tax. Vander Zalm will speak at a rally set for Weldwood Theatre (7-238) at UNBC, 7 p.m. start.

Williams Lake RCMP are searching for Wade Frank, 21. Police there said Frank is wanted on an outstanding warrant "for assault stemming from an incident that occurred in Williams Lake" in November.
