Highway 97 is now single-lane alternating south of Prince George as crews work to reopen the road after a collision that claimed two lives.
Essential commuters should expect delays until the stretch near Colebank Road East north of Hixon completely reopens, expected to do so by 5 p.m. tonight (April 29).

Highway 97 is still estimated to reopen around 5 p.m. tonight (April 29) after two people died in a serious multi-vehicle collision this morning.
According to Prince George RCMP, the fatal incident occurred after 9 a.m. when a car and a mid-size sport utility vehicle collided head-on north of Hixon on Highway 97 near Colebank Road East.
Speeding is believed to be a factor, spokesperson Cpl. Sonja Blom explains as an assessment remains in progress.
She adds a third person has also been taken to hospital after sustaining serious injuries from the collision.

DriveBC says 5 p.m. this evening (April 29) is the estimated time of re-opening for Highway 97 south of Prince George.
RCMP and first responders are tending to a serious multi-vehicle collision that occurred near Hixon earlier today.

Highway 97 south of Prince George may be closed for several hours today (April 29).
That's according to RCMP who are currently responding to what's been deemed as a serious motor vehicle collision near Hixon that's completely closed the highway in both directions.
DriveBC says, at around 9:30 a.m. this morning, a multi-vehicle incident took place at Colebank Road East, roughly six kilometres north of Hixon.
Emergency vehicles only have access to the closed-off area.
It's unclear, as of this publication, if there are any possible detours available for essential travellers.
RCMP are set to provide more updates on the collision as they become available.
