RCMP asking public to help find several items from league locker-room
Prince George Minor Girls Fastball Association - Stolen equipment April 2021
The Prince George Minor Girls Fastball Association's equipment locker was broken into and rummaged through, with police reporting more than $5,000 of items stolen in April 2021.

RCMP are asking the public to keep a sharp eye for several items stolen from a local sports association.

Prince George Minor Girls Fastball is missing more than $5,000 worth of equipment after its 12th Avenue locker was broken into earlier this month.

Police were first notified on April 6 after a local resident reported finding two large blue sport bags at a park near the intersection of 14th Avenue and Freeman Street, with 'Bantam 6' and 'Bantam 3' written on them.

Inside were softballs and other equipment, so Mounties made calls across town and eventually found out they belonged to the PG Minor Girls Fastball League.

Given the financial hardships we are already experiencing as a result of the COVID pandemic, the loss of this equipment puts us in some degree of financial difficulty," explained league president Andrew Ferguson in a statement.

Hopefully we can recover from this and the 200 girls who play this great game will be able to take to the fields and have a successful, fun-filled season. Most of these girls did not play ball last summer, it would be devastating for their well-being to be denied another year.

The items reported stolen and remain missing to date are as follows:

  • Three new in-package sets of Catchers equipment (helmet, chest protector, shin/knee guard) = $1,199.85
  • Electronics for scoreboard = $1,000
  • Two Bownets Batting nets = $469.90
  • Jugs soft toss pitching machine = $444.95
  • Jugs small ball pitching machine = $435.95
  • Assortment of training aids = $400
    • Sklz agility ladders
    • Pitching weighted softballs
  • Four dozen (48) 12 Rawlings Red Dot Softballs = $359.80
  • One bucket of 11 Jugs Softie Softballs (roughly 24 balls) = $279.90
  • Two dozen (24) 11 Rawlings Red Dot Softballs = $179.90
  • Two Easton/Jugs Batting Tees = $159.90
  • Team bags = $159.90
  • Two Easton 7’ Batting nets
  • Various bats

Ferguson adds the cost of the items stolen doesn't include the funds needed to repair the locker-room locks and clean-up after the break-in.

Police encourage the public to watch local electronic market sites and around the city for the missing equipment.
