Campfires and any other backyard open fires, including those in fire pits, will be banned in Quesnel starting noon Thursday as part of the region-wide effort to prevent wildfires.

There was a single vehicle accident that took place about 4:30 Tuesday afternoon at the corner of Highway 16 West and Cowart Road. Traffic was backed up the highway while crews worked to clear the road after the accident.
