Crown has laid a charge in a Fort St. James homicide allegation. The incident came to police attention on Saturday morning when Mounties from the Fort St. James detachment were called to the neighbouring community of Tachie.

The Citizen has learned that the RCMP, Prince George Fire Rescue Service, WorkSafeBC and the BC Safety Authority have all been called together to investigate the fatal explosion and inferno at Lakeland Mills.

Highway 16 has been washed out in both directions 85 km east of Prince George. At this time the road has been reduced to single lane alternating traffic. No word on when the road will be fully opened.

The B.C. Coroners Service has identified Alan Little of Prince George as the man killed in the Lakeland Mills explosion and fire Monday night. Little, 43, was a shift supervisor at the sawmill when it exploded at 9:38 p.m. Monday.

At 9:45 p.m., the skies over Prince George lit up with orange as the Lakeland Mills site at the CN rail yard exploded. According to unverified accounts there are 20 people that are still unaccounted.

Five people are unaccounted for in the flames of Lakeland Mills. Prince George Fire Rescue Service could do nothing to fight the fire, according to fire chief John Lane, but "we are containing it.

A large explosion shook the Citizen building at around 9:40 p.m. A large fire can been seen from the Citizen parking lot. Several explosions have been heard. Early indication are the explosions are at Lakeland MIlls.
