Crown has laid a charge in a Fort St. James homicide allegation.
The incident came to police attention on Saturday morning when Mounties from the Fort St. James detachment were called to the neighbouring community of Tachie. There they were directed to a deceased male outside a home.
The victim was later identified as Alfred Joseph Jr. who lives in Tachie.
"Police have one male in custody in relation to this investigation," said RCMP spokeswoman Const. Lesley Smith. "Virgil Hummingbird Thomas has been charged with one count of manslaughter and he is appearing in court today [Tuesday] for his first appearance."
Details like the cause of death and the relationship between victim and accused have not yet been disclosed.
