Summertime fun is coming to Prince George in the way of Mamma Mia! for one night only August 16 at CN Centre.

This is the same smash hit musical seen on Broadway that's on its current North American Tour

with more than 3,700 shows performed in more than 150 cities.

Tickets go on sale May 4 at 10 a.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets.

"The big surprise that goes with this show is the story line itself is quite intriguing," said Henry Kolenko, artistic producer. "I think that it's quite a modern story of a mother bringing up her daughter alone and it's about the quest the daughter goes on to discover what the other half of her is all about. In a way it really surprises people how well the story line and the music from ABBA go together. I promise you that at the end of the show everyone in the audience will be on their feet and dancing. That's never not happened at a show. It's quite amazing."

The story is about an independent, single mom who owns a small hotel on an idyllic Greek island. Donna is about to let go of Sophie, the spirited daughter she's raised alone.

For Sophie's wedding, Donna has invited her two lifelong best girlfriends--practical and no-nonsense Rosie, and wealthy, multi-divorcee Tanya - from her one-time backing band, Donna and the Dynamos. But Sophie has secretly invited three guests of her own.

On a quest to discover the identity of her father so he can walk her down the aisle, she brings back three men from Donna's past to the Mediterranean paradise they visited 20 years earlier. Over 24 hectic hours, new love will bloom and old romances will be rekindled on the lush island full of possibilities.

Inspired by the storytelling of ABBA's songs from Dancing Queen, S.O.S. to Money, Money, Money and Take a Chance on Me, Mamma Mia! is a celebration of mothers and daughters, old friends and new-found family.

The musica has played at Broadway's Winter Garden Theatre for the last decade, celebrating more than 4,000 performances, it remains one of the top selling musicals on Broadway.

The movie, similar in plot to the play, is the highest grossing musical movie of all time. Now Prince George can see it live.

Tickets for MAMMA MIA! are $69, $79, and $89 plus applicable charges. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, www.ticketmaster.ca, or toll free at 1-855-985-5000.
