A few dozen businesses in the BCR Industrial area of Prince George are currently without water following a large water main break.
The city says it occurred early this afternoon (March 15) in a 35 cm pipe in the 8200-block Willow Cale Road.
The cause of the ruptured line, which was installed in 1985, is not yet known.
The break destabilized part of the road and crews have shut down vehicle access on either side of Willow Cale as a precaution, but emergency vehicle access is still available.
A repair operation is underway and expected to take until tomorrow morning (March 16) for crews to complete and for water service to be restored to the affected businesses.
However, the city has not received any reports of flooded structures.
Residents who experience cloudier-than-normal water once service is restored are asked to run taps until the liquid runs clear.
