Kill Matilda coming to P.G.

One of B.C.'s big-city buzz bands has roots in the most rural corners of the Prince George region. Kill Matilda is growling out a name in Vancouver's vibrant pop-punk/metal scene.

Prism holding fundraiser

The Prism Film Festival - the region's only film fest dedicated to gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, two-spirited and queer celluloid - is holding a fundraiser. The event coincides with International Women's Day. Come out March 6 at 8 p.m.

Kovacic commissioned for internment camp painting

Prince George artist and College of New Caledonia fine arts instructor Betty Kovacic has been awarded $19,500 from the Canadian First World War Internment Recognition Fund to create her largest piece of work ever.

Local author wins history award

The city's top annual awards for history were handed out Sunday night. The Jeanne Clarke History Awards are handed out each year by the Prince George Public Library. There are two trophies: the Service Award and the Publication Award.

Play held over

Theatre North West has added two performances of its play Thy Neighbour's Wife on Feb. 23 and 24 to meet demand of tickets. It's the true story of Jennie Hawkes, an Albertan, who in 1915 committed a crime of passion and was sentenced to hang.

Conductor Les Dala brought the audience to its feet at the beginning of PGSO's latest concert. The first few bars emanating from the orchestra were O Canada.
