Unions have the duty to represent.
Union members have the right to file a complaint or a grievance but they do not have the right to have their complaint or grievance proceed to arbitration for that is the decision of the Union executive.
The Union will determine the merits of the grievance and decide whether or not to pursue it further.
If a Union member feels they have not been represented fairly by their Union then they may make application to the LRB for unfair representation. This is something Unions wish to avoid.
Theft is considered just cause for immediate termination and in this case the evidence was clear that theft occurred.
The Unions decision to pursue this grievance was foolish and costly.
A clear case of stubborness and pride versus smart reasoning.

Unions foster laziness and entitlement and these characteristics are prevalent in any unionized workplace.
Unions protect the lazy and unambitious.

Darn it. My summer business plan was to offer summer bus tours of Mocassin Flats for out of town visitors.
It's really put PG on the map.
Looks like BCTransit and the City beat me to it.
