The front page picture on Monday's Citizen was disrespectful and inappropriate.

I am shocked at the Citizen's brazen lack of publishing standards.

No matter the circumstances of the recent event on Oak Street, I strongly disagree with the picture of the murder victim being shown on the front page of Monday's edition of the paper.

As a mother who lost a son to a violent murder here in Prince George, I am extremely disappointed and distraught for the loved ones who had to see their son on the front page of The Citizen.

When I first saw the front page photo I was blown away that that photo would make the paper and knew there would be some backlash from the public, but then it hit me that as grotesque as the photo was, it needed to be shown and I will explain why.

Good or bad, no one deserves to be gunned down. In the forest, an animal dies and some good comes of it. The maggots eat the carcass and the nutrients are returned to renew life. Human maggots are not so useful. The VLA is home to many good people.

Dear driver: I was having a lovely afternoon today. Took my kids age six and eight to see Cats and Dogs in 3D with their four-year-old cousin and their aunt. We all had a great time.

Congratulations Prince George Citizen! I checked with the Webster journalism awards people - they are contemplating an award for the most inappropriate and unprofessional photo journalism by a community newspaper.

I'm a single mother and sometimes it hard to make things happen, but every year I still manage to take my son to the fair. This year however, we did not enjoy ourselves as we have in the past.
