The latest skirmish in the perpetual softwood lumber battle with the U.S. is worth your attention. American lumber producers are complaining, again, that B.C. is subsidizing forest companies based in the province.

Kevin Falcon has proposed merit-based pay for teachers in B.C. As anyone familiar with the literature on incentive pay knows, this idea does not work.

This morning I was watching BCTV and with a great deal of sadness the news that the small animal farm in Stanley Park is closing. The staff said there is a shortfall of $220,000 to operate the farm for a year.
