Dear City of Prince George, Thank you for your plans to resurface Dawson Road from Austin Road to Thee Crescent during the 2016 paving season.

More than a few people sent words my way regarding my column on the budget. Some thought I'd hit the nail on the head, others continued to defend a budget many of them would have actually rejected had it been presented before last October.

I see that at least one of your subscribers has cancelled his subscription to this paper due to perceived "left wing leanings" in its editorials. Perhaps Fox "News" is more to his liking. The editorials by Mr. Godbout have been a breath of fresh air.

We live in a world dependent upon polymers generated from petrochemicals which are able to be molded using heat and pressure. We call these polymers "plastics" although clay and glass are also plastic.

I am writing this letter to thank the Prince George first responders, the paramedics and the doctors, nurses and staff at the University Hospital of Northern B.C. They were and are heroes.

Every day, millions of Canadians donate their talents and energy in service of others. Volunteers are truly the roots of a strong community.

Twice last month I was quizzed by media whether the current downturn in the resource sector spells the end for northern B.C.'s economy - the implication being the north is destined for the dole if it can't monetize its timber, rocks and energy.

Money can't buy votes and it can't guarantee political victory. Cold cash does, however, increase the odds of victory. Campaign funds are particularly important before active campaigning begins and Elections Canada begins active monitoring.

Thanks to Shay Crispin for submitting the video of the police "arresting" the truck thieves. The police officer's job is to detain the suspect but not to be judge, jury and issuer of punishment.

Over a year ago, you wrote about the travels of our municipal politicians and that their travels would bring us good will. It might be interesting to find out what their travels really brought us here in Prince George.
