Thanks to Shay Crispin for submitting the video of the police "arresting" the truck thieves. The police officer's job is to detain the suspect but not to be judge, jury and issuer of punishment. That was a brutal attack by a dog that wasn't called off and officers who physically attacked the suspects.
Those who suggest that beating a suspect is justified should understand that corporal punishment is not legal in Canada. Vigilante justice like this has no place in a civilized society. It not only leads society in a backwards direction but tarnishes all police officers who are doing a decent job. I am certainly not defending the suspects but everyone has a constitutional right to their day in court. Thanks, Shay, for having the courage to not only submit the video but to stand tall in identifying yourself in The Citizen.
