One of the benefits of experience is that lessons are learned. It is unfortunate that our politicians and financial authorities have ignored the lessons that the Great Recession should have taught.

VICTORIA - Even if the anti-HST initiative gets the required number of signatures, there is no guarantee the tax is dead. The initiative process isn't binding on government.

I have to respond to Bill Dwyers letter regarding the HST and the necessity of it.

Re: Shaw ad page 13 Friday's Citizen. Who writes these ads? Gordon Campbell? Ad says on May 27 we are going to get a better TV experience. How? By no longer being able to receive Global Edmonton, Channel 47.

Like thousands of other people this past weekend my wife and I took our two youngest daughters to the fair on Saturday afternoon.

I think we have all recently been made aware of a family that has been brought over from Africa. I will say, there is nothing nicer than seeing a family reunited. I am however, having a challenge with feeling happy for them.

Re: Rising homelessness in Prince George. I've read there's a rise in homelessness and the need for more food at the food bank.

Well, I received my notice for this years property taxes. I am dumbfounded to see that my taxes have risen almost 500 per year. I am happy to say that I now pay the highest taxes on my street.

I'm not writing this letter as a pro or con regarding HST, but rather to point out how people's opinions regarding this and other "hot" topics can be skewed with misinformation.
