Celebrate winter in Prince George

The first Community Skate Day to celebrate winter will be held Jan. 16 at the Prince George Railway and Forestry Museum. Bring a non-perishable food item for the Salvation Army Food Bank as your admission. The event from 1 to 3 p.m.

B.C. Liberal candidate Christy Clark proposed new holiday

B.C. Liberal leadership candidate Christy Clark has proposed the province create a Family Day holiday in February. She said it would give families a holiday break between New Year's and Easter, a period of 111 days without a holiday day.

B.C. Liberals to host leadership debate in Prince George

The B.C. Liberal Party is lining up a trio of all-candidate leadership debates open to party members that will include Prince George. The first debate will be held in Kamloops on Feb. 2, followed by a debate in Prince George on Feb.

Salsa dancing classes will begin this month by the Latino--Canadian Asssociation at Peden Hill elementary school. Beginners classes will be held Fridays from 7 to 8 p.m. in the gymnasium. Cost is $55 for non-members and $50 for members.

Shooting may be accidental

Prince George RCMP have determined the gun shot wound suffered by a 20-year-old local man on Jan. 6 may have been accidental. Cpl. Craig Douglass, media relations officer, also said there may not have been any involvement by other persons.

Review of $400-million power line to be ready next week
