Thieves looking for copper resorted to cutting down two power poles. The act occurred on Old Cariboo Highway on Wednesday, according to BC Hydro, adding the perpetrators removed components of the equipment on the power pole to try to steal copper.

The need for volunteers continues to grow along with the increasing number of Cariboo wildfire evacuees finding refuge in Prince George. In light of growing numbers, the city is opening a volunteer centre at 8 a.m.

As Cariboo wildfire evacuees continue to make their way to Prince George, so too does the drive to help from local citizens.
