Nearly 5,000 evacuees in Prince George

The number of evacuees in the city was just south of 5,000 as of last night. In all, 4,948 had registered at the emergency reception centre at the College of New Caledonia, according to city figures - 3,963 adults and 985 children.

Construction crews put down a sub floor over the artificial turf in the Northern Sports Centre Wednesday morning to allow for the set-up of 460 cots for evacuees.

In all, 4,948 had registered at the emergency reception centre at the College of New Caledonia, according to city figures - 3,963 adults and 985 children.

Of that total, 428 are in group lodging, 470 are in RV parking, 2,403 have found alternative accommodation and 484 have found commercial lodging

A so far, $373,000 in grocery voucher has been distributed.
