Prince George RCMP have recovered a portion of roughly $200,000 worth of equipment that went missing from a work site 18 months ago.

The Wholesale Sports chain of a dozen hunting, fishing and camping supply stores in Western Canada, including an outlet in Prince George, is shutting down after 30 years in business, leaving 545 workers without jobs.

Prince George households continue to rake in more money than most in the country. According to figures from the 2016 census, released this week by Statistics Canada, the median income for the city and surrounding area stood at $78,427.

Ten years ago, a business owner moved to Prince George and made such a huge impact on the community he was most recently named one of this year's five Citizens of the Year by the Prince George Community Foundation.

A Prince George man was sentenced to a further 33 days in jail and prohibited from driving for two years for ramming an RCMP vehicle with a stolen pickup truck.

Record-setting numbers of travellers passed through Prince George Airport in July and August. The count for July was more than 42,000, an 18-per-cent increase over the same month last year, and for August it was close to 46,000, a 21-per-cent jump.

The Prince George RCMP are requesting the public's help in locating a man who has not been seen in over a week. Gabriel Anthony Cabral, 48, is a Prince George resident but is originally from the Burns Lake area.

Fundraising fashions will be paraded on Sunday. The models will be showing off the clothing of local retailers and all the money raised going to the people in greatest need of food and clothing, the users of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
