The Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society is hosting a watch party for The Amazing Race Canada at the Central BC Railway and Forestry Museum on Tuesday, Aug. 12.
Everyone is welcome to attend to see Grace Dove and Joe Syme, sibling besties from Prince George, compete as one of the pairs racing on the CTV summer series that challenges teams of two to travel across the country — and sometimes beyond — to complete physical and mental challenges in pursuit of a grand prize of $250,000 courtesy of FUZE Iced Tea, a trip around the world and two 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS vehicles.
Episode 5 includes a stage of the cross-country race filmed in Prince George in May.
Dove is a Canadian Screen Award-nominated actor who appeared in The Revenant as Leonardo DiCaprio’s wife; Alaska Daily, a television series with Hilary Swank and in How It Ends with Forest Whitaker, as well as the movie and television series Bones of Crows. Dove lives in Vancouver now but was born and raised in Prince George.
Syme is a diamond driller from Prince George.
The duo has made it to the fifth leg of the race that was filmed in Prince George, putting a national spotlight on the city while teams race to complete tasks and overcome challenges on their way to the end of the leg of the race.
In the previews shown after last week's episode on CTV, UNBC’s Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre and the Aquatic Centre are featured, along with Mr. PG who is showcased in mascot form and as the statue located where Highway 16 and 97 meet, a location where teams will see two double-blind passes come into effect.
The show, hosted by skeleton bobsled Olympic gold medalist Jon Montgomery and based on the popular U.S. version, normally airs Tuesdays but won't be seen this week (Aug. 6).
The Amazing Race Canada Watch Party on Tuesday, Aug. 12 at the BC Central Railway and Forestry Museum, 850 River Rd., starts at 6 p.m., the show starts at 7 p.m.
Donations for the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society are welcome.
