If you know of any budding filmmakers who want to break into the industry tell them to mark May 4 on their calendars.

Not just because it’s Star Wars Day (May the fourth be with you), but because Vancouver Film School (VFS) is making a stop in Prince George on its Canada-wide tour.

The school is bringing its faculty and alumni to town for a 45-minute info session during Northern FanCon to provide an inside look at VFS and its 13 programs.

Participants can expect to meet and talk with VFS faculty, admission staff and alumni.

Learn about the 13 programs which include game design, animation, film production, VFX, programming, motion design, interactive design, makeup, acting, screenwriting and writing for games.

The faculty will answer questions and if you’re interested, show you how to apply.

They will even give you tips on how to build a creative portfolio or arrange to have your current portfolio reviewed by VFS faculty for free.

You’ll also be able to view the latest creative works and film projects from current students at the school.

The whole thing will take place Saturday, May 4 from 4:30 to 5:30 at the CN Centre (2187 Ospika Boulevard South).

While the event is free to attend, you must register beforehand and you can do so online.
