June is Pride Month and Prince George is two weeks away from starting up its own festivities celebrating acceptance and equal rights in the community.

The first of three events over a two-week period is the Pride Picnic hosted by the Prince George Queer Cafe and GenderOutlines Transgender Society.

The picnic encourages everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, race, religion, or beliefs to bring a picnic basket full of goodies and break bread under the rainbow, in Rainbow Park off Ospika Blvd.

According to the two organizations, this will serve as a thank you for making the northern capital a safe place to live and love for everyone, including the LGBTQIA+ community.

The party will also have live music from local performers, games, and water balloons, so bring your ‘A’ game ... and maybe a towel.

The Pride Picnic is scheduled for the evening of Saturday, June 22 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The next pride event in Prince George is the Queer Cafe Meet Up on June 26 at Cafe Voltaire from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Prince George’s Pride Parade is scheduled for July 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Civic Centre.
