June 14th is International Steampunk Day! What even is steampunk, you may ask?
Well, simply put steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction and fantasy or aesthetic that incorporates technology and designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery.
It’s also a lot of fun! To make the most of Steampunk’s big day, the Central B.C. Railway and Forestry Museum is hosting a special event.
Steampunk Days 2019 at the Railway and Forestry Museum will teleport you into an era where Victorian glamour meets the Industrial Age.
Dress in your favourite Steampunk garb, or other costumes and join in the fun!
You will also be able to enjoy family entertainment as you walk through the eight-acre site.
There will be pioneer blacksmith demonstrations, wood turners activities, crafts, rides on the Cottonwood Mini-train, and much more!
Regular admission rates for the museum apply and the event takes place on the weekend of June 14 to 16 starting from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
