Mayor and council invited to prayer breakfast

John Reimer thinks Mayor Shari Green and city council are on the hot seat often enough trying to keep the city running on an even keel and says they deserve some thanks for the thankless jobs they do.

So the mayor and all eight councillors have been invited as the guests of honour at the Prince George Mayor's Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, March 7 at 7 a.m. at the Civic Centre.

"We appreciate all the mayor and council are doing and sometimes we don't appreciate all that they are going through," said Reimer.

"We have a lot of complaints about potholes and snow removal but you never get anything out of people when you just kick them in the butt. But if you give them nine pats on the back and one kick in the butt, you'll get something out of them. I think we need to support those that are responsible to get things going in the city."

Reimer, a member of the Fort George Baptist Church, said the Prayer Breakfast started about 12 years ago. The event is supported by the Prince George Ministerial Association.

The public is also invited to attend. Tickets are $20 each. Phone John at 250-962-9478 for ticket information.
