Gateway kitchen fire extinguished quickly by Prince George firefighters

No injuries reported, nobody home during the blaze

A fire that appeared to have started in the kitchen of a Gateway area home was tended to yesterday afternoon (July 3).

Prince George Fire Rescue sent 16 firefighters from three different halls to the reported blaze on the 1200-block, 20th Ave. around 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Smoke was coming from the eves of the structure when crews arrived on scene.

Fortunately, nobody was inside the residence at the time of the fire and the flames were put out quickly.

There were no injuries to fire personnel according to Prince George Assistant Fire Chief Thad Kennedy in a statement.
