The City of Prince George is inviting residents to CityFest, a free, family-friendly event taking place Wednesday, May 21 at Canada Games Plaza.
Running from 3-7 p.m., CityFest offers an afternoon of music, food and opportunities to connect with the municipal services that support and strengthen the community. Residents are encouraged to join Mayor Simon Yu and city council for the celebration.
CityFest will feature the following attractions:
- Food trucks
- Face painting and hands-on activities for children
- An up-close look at City of Prince George vehicles, including a fire truck, tractor and Zamboni
- Informational booths highlighting city services
- Opportunities to ask staff questions and provide input on municipal services
- Meet-and-greet sessions with members of council
- Giveaways and games, including Mr. PG merchandise
“CityFest is about celebrating the spirit of civic engagement and the responsiveness of local government in Prince George — the people, services and pride that make this community so special,” said Yu. “Whether you want to learn more about how the city works or simply enjoy time with your family, CityFest is a great way to connect, share ideas and spend an afternoon together.”
The event coincides with Local Government Awareness Week, which runs May 11 to 17, and Asset Management Awareness Day on May 14 — a time the city says is ideal for highlighting the important work done at the municipal level.
“We know our residents are eager to engage with our staff, and we’re looking forward to seeing many familiar and new faces at CityFest,” said city manager Walter Babicz. “It’s a great opportunity to answer questions and hear what matters most to our community.”
CityFest is open to all ages and no registration is required.
