Road work near Prince George Airport has started earlier than normal, meaning potential delays for motorists on Aug. 5 and 6.

In an email to media outlets sent out on Tuesday, Aug. 5, an airport spokesperson said work on Ellis and Sintich roads originally expected to start on Aug. 8 by contractor Okanagan Aggregates would start that same day.

“Okanagan Aggregates cites ‘unforeseen circumstances’ for the early start and say that the road construction will last today and tomorrow, Aug. 5 and 6, 2025,” the spokesperson said.

“They will then resume road construction on Sintich and Ellis after the weekend, starting early next week, but did not give an exact day. Okanagan Aggregates will do their best to minimize wait times for traffic.”

The airport’s original media release had warned that the work would cause single-lane alternating traffic and delays of up to 15 minutes for one to two weeks.
