Colin Slark

Colin Slark was born in Vancouver and raised in Prince George.
He graduated from Duchess Park Secondary School and earned a bachelor of arts degree in English and history from UNBC.

His interest in journalism was piqued after short high school internships with the Citizen and CBC Radio as well as writing and editing for UNBC’s student newspaper, Over The Edge.

He temporarily moved to the East Coast after that, getting a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in investigative and data journalism from the University of King’s College in Halifax, N.S.|

To finish his bachelor’s degree in journalism, Colin spent several weeks as an intern for CBC Radio’s Daybreak North here in Prince George.

“Distant Doctors,” Colin’s professional project for his master’s degree focusing on the state of pediatric health care in Northern BC, was published by the Prince George Citizen in early 2019.

After spending more than five years covering a variety of beats for the Brandon Sun newspaper in Brandon, Man., he returned to Prince George to report on municipal politics for his hometown paper in late 2024.
