It’s never over ‘til it’s over.

The Alberta Golden Bears proved that Saturday on the U Sports Canada West men’s soccer field in Edmonton while dishing out a cruel fate to the UNBC Timberwolves.

They scored two goals in the final two minutes to defeat the T-wolves 3-2.

Stu Rowlands, in the 14th minute, and Anthony Preston, with his second goal if the season at the 16-minute mark, staked the T-wolves to the early 2-0 lead. But the Golden Bears rallied with three unanswered goals.

Garry Onyejelem’s deflected shot in the 88th minute and a 90th-minute goal from Lahai Mansaray doomed UNBC to its fourth loss of the season. That came after Janko Vong’s header late in the first half got the Bears’ offence stoked.

Each team fired 11 shots. Eight of Alberta’s were on net, while the T-wolves had six shots on goal.

The win improved the Golden Bears’ record to 2-4-1. UNBC dropped to 3-4-1.

The T-wolves will face the Grant MacEwan Griffins (1-4-2) Sunday at 1:30 p.m. PT.

The UNBC women (3-1-1), 1-0 winners Friday over the Lethbridge Pronghorns, will try to make it a clean sweep at home this weekend when they host the Mount Royal University Cougars (0-5-0) Sunday at noon at Masich Place Stadium.
