Thank you, Neil Godbout, for your sensitive, uplifting editorial "After The Blast.

My husband is a Lakeland employee, and though he wasn't at work at the time, it has impacted our family so much. When he got the job there, nearly six years ago, it represented a change in our lives.

For about 40,000 workers in the province, today comes with a nice 75 cents-an-hour pay raise. It's the last of three regular minimum-wage increases Premier Christy Clark announced last year.

So Canfor, you've got a mill that doesn't make two-by-fours any more and you would like the taxpayer to put up $10 million to make it into a trades school.

Several weeks ago, I was scrambling to find the perfect "going away" gift for a co-worker. I had one day to find something. Van Horlick's Trophy & Gift House was mentioned in a conversation at work.
