The 14-year-old Prince George Alpine Ski Racer captured her first gold medal at the President's Choice Canadian K2 championships, winning Wednesday's giant slalom.

Wells, the B.C. provincial K2 champion, was first down the hill in both runs, finishing with a combined time of one minute 26.08 seconds.

Roni Remme of Palgrave, Ont., who won the super-G and super-combined events earlier this week, was second in the GS, a half-second behind Wells (1:26:58), while Mikaela Tommy of Quebec won bronze (1:28:12).

Wells is a Grade 9 student at Kelly Road secondary school.
