The Prince George Aquatic Centre is gearing up for a busy finish to the summer heading into the final days of the 67th annual BC Summer Swimming Association (BCSSA) provincial championships.

Running Aug. 11 to 17, the competition has brought about 6,000 athletes, families and spectators to the city.

Events include speed swimming, diving, water polo and artistic swimming.

The centre has been closed to public swims since Aug. 8, reopening Aug. 18, while the wave pool has been shut down since Aug. 9 and will reopen Aug. 22. The full facility will be closed to the public from Aug. 11 to 17, with access limited for registered participants.

The Canfor Leisure Pool will remain open with regular hours throughout the event.
