The College of New Caledonia is investing in football to create educational opportunities for the Prince George Kodiaks.

The college and the Kodiaks announced Friday, Aug. 15 a new partnership that will offer tuition support for Kodiaks players to pursue their goals in post-secondary education, also providing practical learning experiences, including kinesiology placements.

CNC will also work with the BC Football Conference junior football club to create joint recruitment campaigns and build community ties, using the tuition offer to help convince players aged 17-22 to come to Prince George to play for the team.

The new agreement will be celebrated on Saturday, Aug. 16 when the Kodiaks return to Masich Place Stadium to take on the Langley Rams (6 p.m. start).

“This partnership is about more than football — it’s about investing in people,” said CNC president Cindy Heitman. “The Kodiaks inspire young athletes to work hard, lead with integrity, and support one another. At CNC, we share those values and want to help create pathways for players to succeed both on and off the field.”

The CNC logo will be displayed at the stadium and the Kodiaks will recognize the college’s sponsorship in game programs and on the team website.

CNC students will be offered game tickets at discounted prices.

“Partnering with CNC empowers our players to turn goals into achievements—on the field, in the classroom, and in life,” said Kodiaks president Craig Briere. “Together, we’re building lasting pathways for success that will strengthen our team, inspire our athletes, and create a positive impact across Prince George.”

The Kodiaks (1-2) are returning to BCFC action coming off a bye weekend.

They face a Rams team that’s won two straight, including a 28-2 win last Saturday over the Kamloops Broncos in Langley.
