Megan Tandy is getting better with age.
Or maybe she's just thinking ahead to the next Olympics four years from now in Sochi, Russia.
Wednesday in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, the 21-year-old from Prince George posted her second-best career World Cup biathlon result when she placed 31st in the 7.5-kilometre sprint.
Just as she was in the 2010 Olympics, Tandy was the top Canadian, finishing in 22 minutes 34 seconds while hitting nine of 10 targets.
Iana Romanova of Russia claimed her first career World Cup biathlon victory in 20:59.3, followed by silver-medalist Marie Laure Brunet of France (21:10.2), and bronze medalist Helena Jonsson of Sweden (21:14.8).
Zina Kocher of Red Deer, Alta., was 40th (23:07.6) and Megan Imrie of Falcon Lake, Man., was 48th (23:33.2).
Tandy is entered in Saturday's 12.5km mass start race and will represent Canada in Sunday's 2 X 6km relay.
In her first Olympics, Tandy finished 50th in the individual race, was 46th in the sprint, and was 36th in the pursuit, the first Canadian women to qualify for that event.
The races this week in Russia mark the end of the World Cup season.
