Spruce Kings sign Colin Winn
The Spruce Kings have added goalie Colin Winn of Massachusetts to their 2022-23 recruitment list.

Winning is the name of the game for junior A hockey teams and the Prince George Spruce Kings are always on the lookout for players who can help achieve their ultimate goal in the B.C. Hockey League.

With their latest signing, the Kings already have at least one Winn in the bag before the puck drops on next season.

The Kings announced they have signed goaltender Colin Winn, a native of Westford, Mass., to play in Prince George for the 2022-23 season.

The six-foot-one, 170 pound Winn, who turns 18 on Aug. 5., compiled a 2.58 goals against average, .919 save percentage and 25-12-5 record this past season playing for the Boston Junior Bruins of the National Collegiate Development Conference, a branch of the U.S. Premier Hockey League. He also won earned a 4-2-1 record in eight playoff games, putting up a 2.43 GAA and .921 save rate.

“I am super excited to be coming up to Prince George, playing in that barn, and being a part of the community is what I’m looking forward to the most,” said Winn, in a team release.

“What stood out to me the most about the program is how the staff really wants the best for their players and wants them to move on to the next level.”

Winn has above-average mobility and is comfortable wandering from his crease to handle the puck in the trapezoid behind the net.
“I think my style of play is a very athletic goalie who likes to play the puck and make plays,” he said.
The Spruce Kings are sold on Winn’s athleticism and physical stature and figure he will fit in well sharing the load with their veteran incumbent in net.

“We are excited to add Colin Winn to join returning goaltender Jordan Fairlie for next season,” said Kings head coach Alex Evin. “Colin has good size and mobility which compliments his work ethic and compete level. We hope that he can contribute to our team’s future success and develop into an NCAA D1 prospect.”
