Considering he played for the Elmira Sugar Kings, you’d have to call Friday’s announcement of the Prince George Spruce Kings acquiring 2003-born forward Luke Eurig a sweet addition.

The 19-year-old from Mount Forest, Ont., was a prolific scorer this past season for the Sugar Kings, producing 27 goals and 49 points in 47 games in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. The five-foot-10, 174-pound Eurig also put up 14 points in 14 playoff games for Elmira.

“Luke is a skilled player who plays hard in all areas of the game,” said Spruce Kings general manager Mike Hawes. “His style of play will endear him well to his teammates and our fans.”
