Rockets blast Cougars

The Kelowna Rockets stretched their home win streak to 12 games Saturday at Prospera Place with a 7-2 win over the Prince George Cougars in Western Hockey League action.

The Kelowna Rockets stretched their home win streak to 12 games Saturday at Prospera Place with a 7-2 win over the Prince George Cougars in Western Hockey League action.

Tyson Baillie had two goals and an assist to lead the Rockets, who led 1-0 after the first period and 4-1 after 40 minutes.

Mac Engel (4-10-3) took the loss in the Cougars net as he faced 33 shots and didn't receive a lot of help as the Rockets forwards were consistently left alone in front of the 19-year-old. Jordan Cooke (13-8-2) picked up the 20-save win in the Rockets net.

Alex Forsberg scored both Cougars goals, his sixth and seventh of the season. His first goal come on a late second period power play and the 17-year-old's second of the game came with less than a minute to play.

The Rockets were 3-for-5 on the power play while the Cougars were 1-for-6 and allowed a shorthanded goal.

The Cougars hit the ice again Tuesday at CN Centre when the Swift Current Broncos pay their only visit at 7 p.m.
