Special Olympics BC Prince George held the 29th annual Fundraising Golf Tournament Friday, July 25 at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club.
The event started with a shotgun start at 1 p.m., with Special Olympics athletes at a couple of holes collecting donations for assisting the 27 registered teams with their drives on hole nine or their putts on hole nine.
Karen Emerson, organizer of the tournament, mentioned before the start that the last two years approximately $100,000 was raised and this year looks on track to hit that mark. The tournament had 108 golfers and 10 athletes taking part in the tournament and 140 seated for the dinner with a live auction and silent auction helping to increase the money raised.
Funds raised will be used for travel and accommodation expenses for local athletes as well as equipment and uniforms.
