For the second straight year the senior girls from Prince George secondary dribbled their way to the Condor Classic championship.
The PGSS Polars held off the host Duchess Park Condors 59-49 to maintain their unbeaten record on the season. With their repeat win in the Condor Classic, the Polars have a 12-0 record this season, having also secured championships at the D.P. Todd secondary and Grande Prairie tournaments.
PGSS was led by Mavia Nijjer and her 22 points in the final while fellow Grade 12 student Emily Aase notched up 13 points.
"We had really good composure as a team and we just ran our offence," said Aase. "We had to play really good defence too because they crash the boards hard."
In the semifinal the Polars knocked off the Cedars Christian Eagles 61-39 while the Condors beat the D.P. Todd Trojans 72-29. In the third place game the Eagles built a lead and then held off the Trojans 88-78.
Aase credited Polars' captain Nijjer for leading the team onto the court with the right amount of energy.
"She always has her game face on and is ready to come out and play and support everybody through everything," said the 17-year-old forward.
The Duchess Park Jr. Condors finished fourth after a 56-47 win over the College Heights Cougars while the Nechako Valley Vikings thumped the Kelly Road Roadrunners 84-28 in the seventh place game.
In senior boys action, the Condors beat the Polars 80-48 and the Trojans beat the Cougars 58-50.
