Pisces all tuned up for regionals

The Prince George Pisces churned through the waves at their last invitational meet of the summer season in Mackenzie on the weekend. The Pisces, with 20 swimmers and three coaches (who all swam as well), came third out of four teams.

Wesley Arrowsmith posted two personal bests en route to a bronze medal in Division 1 boys aggregate.

Eva Gobbi earned a personal best to win silver in Division 2 girls, while Ben Cook set three personal bests to win bronze in the Division 2 boys aggregate.

Donovan Evans posted 10 personal bests in Division 3 boys to win the gold aggregate, followed by Kyle Hicks, who earned two personal bests to win silver in the aggregate.

Kyra Arrowsmith earned a pair of personal bests to win bronze in the Division 4 girls aggregate, while Matthew Shand set three new personal bests to win gold in Division 4 boys aggregate. He also set a new Pisces club record in the 50-metre butterfly, clocking 34.25 seconds, besting his own former time of 34.78.

Brett Gandy grabbed three personal bests to win silver in the Division 5 boys aggregate.

Ariel Gilbert won bronze in the Division 6 girls aggregate, while Jessica Ballantyne won gold in Division 7 girls aggregate.

Other notable Pisces included Molly Fandrey, who posted 11 best times, Madylen Brown, who recorded seven personal bests, and Nathan Menounos, who set six new personal bests.

Samuel Cook and Sera Zral each earned five personal best times, while Justine Guillet and Stephanie Horning each recorded four personal bests.

The Pisces host the regional championships Aug. 2-3 prior to traveling to the provincial championships Aug. 14-17 in Kamloops.
