The PG Youth Soccer Association's under-16 girls tried, but they couldn't score the equalizer against visiting Kamloops Sunday to have a chance to qualify for the single-A Cup provincials.
Kamloops edged the Timberwolves 2-1 Sunday at Rotary Field after a 1-0 shutout 1-0 Saturday to win the best-of-two Provincial A Cup qualifying series 2-0.
"We needed to win by one goal to advance," said Timberwolves interim head coach Eddie Stella after Sunday's game. "It was a well-fought match. We always have good battles against Kamloops. They're a good club."
Sunday on the pitch, all the goals were scored in the first 20 minutes of the first half of the match.
Kamloops struck first, but Prince George tied it up on an equalizer by Shonda Couroux. Kamloops then scored the goal-ahead goal shortly after.
Prince George had several good scoring opportunities in the second half, but couldn't muster the tying goal.
Prince George goalkeeper Patricia Miles suffered the losses between the posts.
"We played Kamloops once before this season and it was a 1-0 win for them," said Stella.
The pair of losses signifies the end of the season for the Timberwolves, though they'll continue to train throughout the summer in preparation for a tournament in Coquitlam in September.
