Murdoch's return still up in air

The regular season is a little more than two weeks away. And, for members of the UNBC Northern Timberwolves women's basketball team, it's still unclear as to when their head coach will return.

Loralyn Murdoch, for personal reasons, is on a leave of absence.

This fall, with Murdoch unavailable, UNBC practices have been conducted by assistant coaches Rachel Hulme, Kaz Ikuta and Joel Hulme. When the Timberwolves played their final pre-season games at a Red Deer College tournament on the weekend, UNBC athletics director Jason Kerswill was at the controls.

Kerswill, a former university-level player who was named as the school's new AD this summer, isn't sure when Murdoch will be back.

"We're working out a plan and obviously the sooner we can get her back, the better," Kerswill said. "The girls are definitely looking for their coach. That's her team."
