There will be mud, it might be warm enough for sweat, and their could be a few tears spilled.

Eight kilometres of slithering through mud pits, running up and down hilly trails, hanging from ladder bars and climbing over walls awaits participants in today's second annual Mudd, Sweat & Tears obstacle course event at Otway Nordic Centre.

The first heats begin at 9 a.m. Participants are advised to arrive one hour before they are scheduled to start. Late entries can sign up if they arrive early enough, with cash in hand. The cost is $95 for individuals and $85 each for teams of 12.

Last year's inaugural event at Otway drew close to 1,300 participants.

Money collected for site fees by the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club will be used to support the club's cross-country skiing and biathlon youth coaching programs.

The weather forecast isn't very encouraging, with periods of rain expected all day today and a high of 13 C predicted.
